Nursery (3 months to 1 year apx)
Our Nursery is both spacious and self contained to ensure we can give your baby the individual care and attention that is so important at this early stage of development. The Nursery is separate from the other rooms and contains its own kitchen and cot room.
The ratio of nursery staff to babies is 1:3. Staff record all the feeding, sleeping, nappy changing and medical administration so that you can monitor your baby’s routine closely. –
The Nursery has direct access to a matted outdoor play area to allow for healthy outdoor play.
In our Nursery we will keep your child busy with stimulating, visual, physical and audio educational resources. We understand that caring and learning go hand in hand.
Wobbler Room (Ages 1 to 2 years)
Once your child starts to find his/her feet s/he can join our Wobbler Room. They will spend much of their day exploring, socialising, and experimenting while they learn to walk.
The ratio of staff to children in this area is 1:5. Staff will record all the feeding, sleeping, nappy-changing, play and learn activities and any medical administration.
Toddler Room (Ages 2 to 3 years)
When your child turns two years of age they will join our Toddler Room where they will be introduced to more advanced activities including sand and water play, arts and crafts, and a daily schedule of activities with monthly themes. We aim to build individual skills as well as extend vocabulary self-help skills and build concentration to encourage the starting and finishing of activities.
The staff ratio to children in this room is 1:6. All routines and activities are recorded daily so you can monitor your child’s progression. When you decide your child is ready to be toilet trained our staff will work with you to encourage this and support your efforts.
Pre-School (Ages 3 to 3.5 years)
In the pre-school room we offer a comprehensive pre-school programme focused on learning through play. This room caters for a small group of 10 children to 1 adult. Weekly theme work and the Aistear and Síolta curricula are in place here. Progress reports are recorded and a quarterly report is sent home for parents. Completed arts and crafts, baking, etc. are sent home periodically.
Montessori (Ages 3.5 to 5 years)
Our Montessori Room is where your child will be introduced to all areas of this method of education in small groups and on a one to one basis.
The Montessori Method encourages children to achieve their unique individual potential through an environment that allows intellectual, social, physical, emotional and spiritual freedom. Your child learns with ease in a relaxed and orderly environment, and our teachers respect and guide each child according to his/her unique stage of development.
Through the Montessori teaching, and other techniques, your child will be exposed to the fundamentals of reading, writing and mathematics. Montessori helps prepare your child for a smooth transition in to “big school” when that time comes.
Your child’s progress is recorded daily so you may monitor his/her progression.
After School (Ages 5 to 12 years)
When your child comes in from “Big school” they are naturally tired and hungry. In our After-school service we provide a hot dinner when your child arrives. We then encourage them to start their homework and assist them as needed. All homework is checked by staff. A planned activities programme for the week is put into effect by the children themselves, including arts and crafts, geoboards and board games, physical games and outdoor play and computer activities. This service runs from 2-6pm during school term and we also provide care for school holidays/days off if required. We also provide transport from some local schools to the centre.
